Sean is the Chief Investment Officer for 1908 Capital and leads the firm’s efforts

He is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience in financing and direct investing in both private and public companies. He was first trained as a Civil Engineer at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and holds a BS in Civil Engineering. After serving in the US Army as an Officer, Sean began his career in investment banking and financial services with Merrill Lynch and then UBS. Sean has led the financing of a multitude of varied projects over his career and has served as a financial advisor to both publicly traded and private companies.

Sean founded Clearvoyance Consulting in 2009 as a niche due diligence and risk mitigation advisory firm “clarifying the obscure and vetting the un-expectable” for investors and particularly private equity firms considering investments in unappreciated opportunities. That effort led to the creation of 1908 Capital.

Sean is honored to be on the Board of the Sandy Springs Conservancy where he seeks to promote conservation and smart development within the city.

Jim is a Managing Director of 1908 Capital

Jim is an attorney (having achieved an AV rating for 25 years) whose career has focused on matters relating to finance, economic development, and the interaction between the private sector and government. Among his accomplishments in the areas of finance is service as underwriter’s or bond counsel in numerous transportation, housing and economic development bond issues. Jim also served as outside counsel to the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA). He has also represented a number of Fortune 500 companies in economic development matters.

Jim’s political leadership has included serving as Chairman for the campaign of U.S. Representative Tom Price, on the transition team of Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue where he helped draft the states Film Tax Credit incentive program which has become one of Georgia’s best economic incentives. He has spent a large portion of his career facilitating investment in public-private partnership developments, and leveraging state and federal tax incentives. His company Proscenium Capital is a leader in the brokerage of the Georgia film credits.

He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Georgia’s Lumpkin School of Law

Judson in an attorney focused on economic development

Judson is an attorney and former Georgia State Senator. Judson’s professional and political career has focused on economic development and help businesses develop.

During his thirteen years of service in the Senate, Judson was chairman of the Senate Finance Committee which has jurisdiction over state finance and tax policy. He also chaired the Cobb and Fulton County Legislative Delegations, the Georgia World Congress Center Oversight Committee, and the Senate Reapportionment Committee. He was in the vanguard crafting the business and economic development policies that lowered Georgia’s tax and regulatory burden resulting in Georgia’s position as the number one state within which to conduct business. He was named national Legislator of the Year by the American Legislative Exchange Council.

Judson also served in the Reagan Administration as an Assistant United States Attorney and as a White House appointee at the U.S. Department of State, Agency for International Development. He served on the Federal Communications Commission Intergovernmental Advisory Council helping the agency and Fortune 100 telecommunications companies support a dynamic industry on the front-lines of economic growth, public safety, education and healthcare.

He is a graduate of Emory University and Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law

Joe is Director of Marketing

Joe is marketing professional and an alumnus of Auburn University with years working with start-up companies. At Auburn, Joe earned a degree in Entrepreneurship and has applied his passion for companies carving their niche. As an Atlanta native, he has worked for some of the city’s greatest influencers as a whole from a software and tech side to the brand names that have gained recognition for themselves. In his spare time, Joe has volunteered with various charitable organizations such as Catholic Charities and serves as a team member for the Cathedral of Christ the King.

David is a project CFO with 1908 Capital

David was a founding partner, EVP and CFO for MidCountry Financial Corp., where he helped build the company to more than 1,100 employees and $1.3 billion in assets. Prior to MidCountry, David was CFO for First Liberty Financial Corp., a publicly-held company. At both MidCountry and First Liberty, David managed the tax operations, which included the structure and defense of complex tax planning matters. David earned his BBA with a major in Accounting from Georgia State University, and was previously a Georgia Certified Public Accountant.

Bill Is an advisor FOCUSED ON project execution for 1908 capital

Bill is a serial entrepreneur in the technology space and an experienced real estate investor.

He was first trained as a mechanical engineer at the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering. After serving in several combat tours in the US Navy as an Officer, Bill began his career managing and leading companies through turnaround and transformation situations. Bill also founded and led as CEO several technology companies in the IoT, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence markets.

Bill has managed and operated one of the largest Multi-Family companies in the United States. As such he was involved in over $1B of new real estate development, dozens of land and apartment acquisitions, and the management of over 30,000 units and ran a General Contracting firm building over $200 MM of new construction per year. Bill was intimately involved in the development, financing, construction and lease up of Atlantic Station and Lindberg Station, two of Atlanta’s first “live, work, play” communities.

Bill was on the Executive Board of the National Multi-Family Housing Council and the National Association of Home Builders.

Bill received an MBA from Mercy College of Business.

Doug Stein

Mr. Stein concentrates his practice on business planning, tax, and trust and estate planning and administration

He represents owners of closely-held domestic and international businesses, principals of private equity/venture capital/LBO funds, life settlement companies, executives and families of significant wealth in all aspect of their tax and business needs. With extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and tax leveraged transactions, assisting clients with the complexity of international business transactions, and IRS controversy matters, especially for foreigners with US contacts, Douglas Stein provides careful and sophisticated tax planning and advice that minimizes the costs associated with increasingly complex tax laws and business transactions.

Mr. Stein has extensive experience litigation experience, beginning his career with District Counsel for the IRS and he continues to represent his clients in IRS controversy work in both federal and state audits and the U.S. Tax Court.

Douglas Stein is vice-chair of the Business Investment Entities, Partnerships, LLCs and Corporations Committee of the American Bar Association, and frequently lectures at their conferences. He has commented on proposed regulations by the IRS and his comments were incorporated into the final regulations.

Mr. Stein received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland and earned his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
